Plywood

Well I have not done to much the last 3 or 4 days. Just fairing and getting it ready for more plywood. It sure a shame that you can not buy good strait lumber anymore. I have used mostly clear lumber on this boat and it is not all that strait but it has very few knots, with the knots being smaller then a dime.I hope to get two sheets on today ,if I do I will post Pic's. Until next post have a great day.

Plywood

Well yesterday I got one more peice of plywood on. this is a very slow go ,this fairing is very slow go. To do it rite the plywood has to sit flat at every rib. Well that's all for yesterday , will post later, have a great day

Plywood

Well yesterday was not a good productive day on the boat. Had to do some other things and spent most of the day in town doing erron's. Well so be it ,I did manage to fair some of the ribs and get one piece of plywood on and glued and screwed in place. Today I hope i can get at least two pieces of plywood on. Other then this there is not much going on and till next post have a great day.

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Well yesterday was the day. We started putting the plywood on. At the end of the day we had 4 piece's on in place . Now today we have to fit each piece to make sure of no gaps. Each piece has to be flush are it will cause trouble. Well it getting late in the morning so I need to get up and get out and start working on the boat, so y'all have a great day. Until next time

Chines

Well yesterday was a partly productive day after I tried to grind off my finger. After taking of the finger we managed to get most of the chines cut into place. This is a very slow prossces due to each rib has tot be cut and the Chine be fitted into place. This is a very critial thing because you have to make sure that the rib stay straight because after the epoxy dries you will mess it up to take a part. Well I guess that's enough rambling for this post until next time have a great day

Transome

Well after all the rain Monday night ( 4.5 in ) I waded through the mud and worked on the transom . Did not get started until after lunch. Yesterday I finished the transom and started to work on the chine's and added some more bracing. The chine will tack some time because each rib will be notched twice. Then after doing that all the ribs will have to be fared then we can start the plywood. Until next writing have a great day.

Ribs in place

Well it's starting to look like a boat and yesterday was a real productive day for me. I got all the ribs set in place and the stem mounted. Installed part of the keelson and today if it does not rain will finish the keelson. There is a 60% chance of rain today and if that happens there will be no work on the boat today, but if it does not rain I will finish the keelson and start working on the chines which this will be a slow job. To install the chines each rib will have to be notch twice , one in the top and one in the bottom. After installing the chines we will start the fairing the boat. What this means we will make sure that the plywood fits flat on each rib and this usually means shaving the ribs. Well this is about all for today hope everybody that reads this has a great day. Until next post be safe.

Ribs

Well I finely got back to work on the boat. The last couple of days we been doing some changes to the ribs. yesterday we finished all the ribs and today we will install them and set them in place and start aliening every thing up. Now after lining things up we will start installing the keelson. To install the keelson we will need to notch all the ribs and then fit the keelson in place. after we dry fit the keelson we will drill it to except the bolts that will go threw the keelson, then we will expoy it and bolt it and then we will move on to the next detail. I will take some pic's today and post them tonight. Thanks for reading my blog and have a great day, will post soon.

Well the rivers have been up and out of there banks for about the last three weeks. Now that the rivers have been falling we set some limb out and Sunday we caught this 32 lb flat head or yellow what ever you prefer to call it and we also caught an 9 lb to go with it. First Ten Rib's in Place

Well it took some time to really get started on the boat, but we seam to be on the move now. As you can see we have three quarters of the framing jig up and have the transom and ten ribs in place. Were hopeing to start on the next ribs today we are waiting on UPS to deliver our expoy so we can glue them and we will be ready to set them in place. After starting this project it is not as easy as it looks, there is a lot of checking and rechecking because a quarter of an inch will make a lot of deference when you start put the plywood on. I hope the weather holds out for this weekend and maybe I will have all the ribs in place. Already have the keel and the stem. Well if the exopy does not come today we will be notching the ribs that are already up for the keel and the chine logs.Well I guess that's all for now. Until next time have a great day.
